Doctor who had practiced in The Villages to serve jail time in video voyeurism case

A doctor who had practiced in The Villages, is serving four months in jail in a video voyeurism case.

Dr. Akram Ismail, 58, of Groveland, had been accused of shooting videos up the dress of a shopper at Publix in Groveland. You can read more about his arrest in July HERE. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to four months in the Lake County Jail.

He had been charged with a felony, but a Lake County jury went with the lesser misdemeanor charge of attempted video voyeurism.

Ismail has also been sentenced to eight months probation.

He began his medical career in Cairo, Egypt. He previously served as chief of Internal Medicine for the Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital.
