Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate after a fight broke out over a parking spot Thursday morning at Wal-Mart in Summerfield.
A 41-year-old Summerfield man said he was waiting for a car to pull from a parking space shortly before 11 a.m. when the driver of an automobile behind him grew impatient and started blowing his horn. The Summerfield man got out of his truck and attempted to explain to the other driver that he was waiting for a parking space to open up. The other man got out of his vehicle and and an argument erupted. The man who had been blowing his horn swung at the Summerfield man and grazed his nose. He reached into the Summerfield man’s truck and attempted to remove the keys from the ignition. He then left the parking lot.
Deputies were able to track down the second man, who admitted to honking his horn and trying to remove the keys from the other man’s vehicle. He said he never struck the other man, but “acted like” he was going to kick him, according to the incident report.
There were no independent witnesses, so no arrests were made in the case.
