Deputies break up attempted burglary at American Legion in Bushnell

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies are looking for three individuals suspected of attempting to break into the American Legion in Bushnell.

The suspects, wearing masks and jackets, attempted to break into the building at about 3 a.m. Saturday at 2881 East County Road 48 in Bushnell.

One suspect used a power tool to attempt entry while another suspect stood behind him with a handgun raised and pointed toward the door. Ultimately, the suspects were not able to gain entry into the building and fled before deputies arrived as a result of the alarm. These subjects are considered armed and are believed to be involved in similar incidents reported in both Pasco and Hernando counties. The sheriff’s office is asking for the community’s help in identifying the suspects.

Anyone with information in reference to this case or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline (800)-423-TIPS (8477).
