A couple who fired guns at a hot water tank were arrested Friday by Lady Lake police.

Officers responded to 322 Griffin View Drive after hearing shots fired at about 3 a.m. Friday.

When they arrived on the scene, police commanded 29-year-old Clifford A. Boyce and 27-year-old Kari L. Coleman to come out into view. They told police they were “just having a good time” and “practice shooting,” according to arrest reports from the Lady Lake Police Department. The couple, who had been drinking, admitted that they had been shooting at a hot water tank in the front of the residence. They later surrendered two 12-gauge shotguns. Both were charged with discharging a firearm in public. Boyce was also charged with being in possession of a short-barreled shotgun.

Both were booked at the Lake County Jail.
