Complaints about fencing, lattice work land Villager in public hearing

Complaints about fencing and lattice work at a home in the Village of Valle Verde, landed a homeowner in a public hearing Wednesday before the Village Center Community Development District Board of Supervisors.

The home of Catherine Romano at 89 Palermo Place had been the subject of a complaint back in August. The complaint focused on a platform, fencing and a lattice structure.

In September, she sought approval for the items from the Architectural Review Committee, but was denied based on the fact they were not “aesthetically pleasing or harmonious to the neighborhood.”

This lattice work was the subject of a public hearing Wednesday.
This fence has since been removed from a home in the Village of Valle Verde.

The fencing has since been removed, Romano told the supervisors.

She defended the lattice structure and indicated she may make another appeal to the ARC.

She was given 60 days to bring the property into compliance and it was noted that the 60-day window would provide enough time for her to make another run at the ARC.

If the ARC appeal is unsuccessful and the property is not brought into compliance, Romano could face fines and other legal action.
