The Community Improvement Council will have safety flashers for people and dogs available Wednesday, May 9, at the Spanish Springs Market Night.
Those wishing to pick up the flashers can visit with CID members from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the group’s booth across from TooJays. The CIC asks for $5 donations for each flasher.
The flashers are available as part of the Brite @ Nite program, an on-going effort to ensure that members of The Villages and their dogs are visible to motorists. The flashers for people have three different light patterns to increase visibility.
Organizations wishing to obtain bulk amounts may contact the CIC at flashers@villagescic.org.
The CIC was organized in 1985 to serve the community as a liaison between residents, the Community Development Districts and the Developer. CIC members provide a voice for ideas and suggestions provided by residents of The Villages, with many aspects of the lifestyle in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown being the result of CIC members turning those ideas into reality. These include but are not limited to: numbers on the golf car tunnels; mirrors at the tunnels; the Adopt-A-Bench program; handicap lift chairs at some Regional Recreation Center pools; traffic flow signs at traffic circles; and wheelchairs for the recreation centers and the town squares.
The CIC meets monthly to review resident suggestions to enhance or improve life in The Villages. Members of the CIC follow up as needed and personally contact each resident who submits a suggestion.
