Central Florida League Winter 2017 Week 10 Highlights

This week in the Central Florida League saw two of the teams tied for first place lose, creating a four way tie for second place.

IHOP defeated Paul Davis Restorations 10-5 to move in to third place.

The IHOP gang was led by Ron Goldman’s three hits. Jim Lambert, Jim Fetela, and John Wyks all had home runs as part of their two hit contribution. Others with two hits were: Jack Finley and Rich Bergman. Paul Davis got three hits from Bob Kelly, Tom Ramberg, and Don Mulneix. Chipping in two hits each were: Jeff Bekasi and Jack Nagle.

Palm Ridge Dental ran into a hot Harlan Insurance team and fell 11-7.

Harlan’s Ken Atkinson launced an over the fence home run as part of his perfect day. He drove in a total of four runs with three hits and a sac fly. Don Melcher was also perfect for Harlan with thre hits. Charles Clare came up a homer short of the cycle. Adding a pair of hits eacher were: Jim Morton, Ed Shirk, Vin Caso, and Chuck Bowman. Gary Nicolay was three for three for Palm Ridge, while George Loew, Mike Jeffries, Dana Lambillotte, and pitcher, Gary Luck, had a pair of hits each.

Synergy Wealth came from behind to best Humana 19-18.

Jim Creed drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. He had three hits and a sac fly to account for four runs. Roy Warter and Rick Fredieu were perfect four for four, while John Reedy, Tom Winegarden, and Vernon Brooks added three hits each. Vinny Pezzullo had a solo homer in the first to start the scoring for Synergy. Humana’s Dave Oatley and Maury Fjestad were perfect four for four with Oatley driving in three runs and Fjestad six thanks to a three run homer in the fifth. Jim Gordon and Jim Kitzler drove in three runs each with their three hit day.

FBC Mortgage defeated Fross & Fross 20-14.

Rick Murgittroyd and Ron Parsons led FBC with three hits each driving in three. Parsons had one of two homers for FBC. Tim Wilcox had the other and drove in five runs total. Phil Palma, Ed Konopka, Jim Joseph, Carl McWilliams, Mike Bernbach, and John Barracato had a pair of hits each. Fross was led by Al DuBuc and Dave Pope with three hits each. Randy Bowen, Gary DePalma, Paul Justice, Terry Yanny, and Tim Healey stroked two hits a piece.

Softball’s R Game took over sole possession of first place by winning 16-15 over CFL CarePlus.

SRG’s Jerry Jensen, Ed Krisha, and Denis Hodge rapped three hits each and drove in 10 of their team’s runs. Jim Stencil, Scott Marshall, Dick Smith and sub, Bill Nesbit, all had a pair of hits. CFL CarePlus outhit SRG by ten hits; but, came up short. Tom Brock, Jim Glover, Chuck Alexander, and Ed Niles all had three hits with Alexander and Niles hitting home runs. Manny Sanchez, Don Brozick, Dennis Bauch, Tom Bortle, LeRoy Yoder, and Mike Labetti all had two hits.

Babiarz Law handled Buffalo Crossings 11-3.

Bob Winder led his team with three hits. Mark Goodwin had a two run homer and a sac fly to account for three runs. Don Evans and Bob Nyce drove in two runs with two hits each. Also with two hits were: Ed Moriarity, John Charles, Craig Dahlquist, and Bob Roth. Buffalo Crossing had three hits by lead off batter Bob Holbert. Ed Chirumbolo and Doug St.Andrews had a pair of hits in the loss.

There are truly wonderful people in The Villages
