Central Florida League Summer 2018 Highlights Week Seven

The Central Florida League started celebrating the fourth a day early as all its games were decided by one run and two of the three went into extra innings.

The early game saw Gators Brownwood pull off another come from behind win as they beat Fross & Fross 15-14.

Fross was up 13-10 after five innings; but, Gators scored one in the sixth and two in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Fross got a run across in the top of the eighth; but, couldn’t hold on as Tim Wilcox drove in the winning run. Fross was led by Bill Nisbet, Cal Driskill, and John Kushner who had three hits each. Pitcher, Bud Ramsey drove in three runs with a triple and a sacrifice fly. Manager John Wyks drove in three runs with a triple through a drawn in outfield. Gators had three hits by lead off batter Charlie Clare. Pat Perkins had a triple and four walks. Tim Wilcox, Paul Isenberg, Jim Rogers, and Bud Sheerin had two hits each for Gators.

Synergy Wealth continued to win as they got by IHOP 6-5.

IHOP scored four runs in the first as the first four batters reached safely. Rick Fredieu drove in the fourth run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. HOP’s only other run came in the third as Don Brozick and Ken Atkinson stroked singles. Brozick scored on a sac fly by Rick Duemler. Synergy scored three runs in the first as Bob Kelly and Terry Baughman each singled and Ed Haith’s sacrifice fly scored Kelly. Jim White followed with a double after a single by Ray Bedford, Baughman scored on a sac fly by Gary DePalma. Bob Roth then doubled to score White. Synergy score three more runs in the sixth as Ed Haith, Jim White, Ray Bedford, Gary DePalma, Bob Roth, and Vernon Brooks all singled.

The day’s final game saw Palm Ridge Dental take over first place with a win over Team Koller.

Team Koller was down 6-1 going into the top of the sixth; but, they scored five runs to tie the game. Each team scored a run in the seventh to force the extra inning. Koller failed to score their runner from second. Palm Ridge
Dental drew a couple of walks before Ron LeBeuf drove in the winning run with a single. Bob Buchanan led Team Koller with four hits. George Kennedy and sub, Jim Creed each added a pair of hits. Palm Ridge Dental had a triple and a home run from both Jim Boerman and randy Murgittroyd. Bob Jacques, Jim Morton, and Craig Dahlquist each had a pair of hits for the winners.

Golf course deserves a failing grade

A Village of Hadley resident recently played an executive golf course that had earned a B- grade in a recent report grade. He says the golf course now deserves a failing grade.

It’s great that Villages-News.com features holes-in-one

A reader from Arkansas is envious that Villages-News.com publishes stories celebrating Villagers’ holes-in-one. He wishes he and his friends could get that kind of recognition where they live.
