Central Florida League Fall 2017 Highlights Week Six

Week six of the fall season featured three games decided by one run and three blow outs.

Fross & Fross got a win over IHOP 16-15. Fross was led by Alan Zahm and John Kushner, each had three hits with a homer. Pitcher, Duane Miller, helped his cause by stroking three hits. Chipping in a pair of hits for the winners were: George Loew, John Gouin, Ron Rowe, and manager, Al Deibler. IHOP got three hits each from Randy Godbold, Rich Bergman, and Chuck Bowman. Maury Fjestad, Ron Goldman, Gary Roth, and Chris Iorio added two hits each.

Arden Jewelers came back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take FBC Mortgage 11-10.

Al Mahar led Arden with four hits, while Jack Nagle had three hits including the walk off single to win the game. Jim White and Rod Severson helped out with home runs. FBC got three hits from Phil Palma and sub, Bill Naasz. Stroking two hits each were: Rocky Spottswood, Howard Charney, Ed Joseph, and Peter Daub.

Babiarz Law overcame a six run seventh by Softball’s R Game by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 17-16 win.

Babiarz had four hits from Dan Coopman and three each by: Carl McWIlliams, Tom Brock, Craig Dahlquist, Bob Winder, and Dennis Bauch. Scott Marshall led Softball’s R Game with a homer, triple and single. Ed Krisha and John Buchanan also had three hits. Jim Stencil, Pat Rice, Ray Bedford, Bob Holbert, and Mike Bernbach had a pair of hits each for the losers.

The Firecrackers played with Paul Davis Restorations through the first three innings; but , were shut out the rest of the way as Paul Davis won 13-5.

Paul Davis was led by Mike Jeffries’ three hits. Stoking a pair of hits each were: Chick Cicatelli, Mark Isom, John Barracato, Conrad Strassle, Art Anton, Jeff Bekasi, Jeff Stein and Bob Kelly. The Firecrackers had a pair of hits by: Ralph Furbush, Chuck Alexander, Jack Meagher, Gary Arnold, and sub, Jim Lambert.

Gators Dockside Brownwood won again with a mercy 15-1 victory over Humana.

Gators got three hits from Jim Lambert. David Blandford had a triple and a home run to drive in four runs. Ken Atkinson had a triple and a single to plate two runs. Others with a pair of hits were: Tony Prettitore, Fred Hughes, Jerry Street, and Jim Morton. Humana got its lone run in the fourth as David Oatley drove in Bob Roth. Roth and Oatley were the only Humana players with more than one hit.

Palm Ridge Dental pulled away from Synergy Wealth by plating five runs in both the sixth and seventh innnings to win 15-8.

Ed DeMaio, Gary Nicolay, and manager, Ken Scanlon, led Palm Ridge with three hits each. Adding a pair of hits were: Gary Luck, John VanArnhem, and Bob Nyce. Synergy lead off batter, Paul Robinson, had four hits to lead his team. John Reedy had three hits, while Dale Neff, Vernon Brooks, and Jim Rogers stroked two hits each.

Next week’s featured match up will be the Paul Davis Restoration versus Palm Ridge Dental game. The winner could end up the league champion for the fall.
