Central Florida League Fall 2017 Highlights Week 8 

Last week’s Central Florida League games saw the league leaders retain their spots atop the standings with wins.

Palm Ridge Dental defeated FBC Mortgage 11-10 behind the three hit day of Ron Parson and John VanArnhem.

Adding a pair of hits for the winners were: Don Winstead, Ed DeMaio, John Goulet, Ken Scanlon, and Bill Naasz. FBC had three hits each by Rocky Spottswood and Howard Charney. Chipping in with two hits were: Marty Berger, John Leone, Gary DePalma, Jim Joseph, and Phil Palma.

Paul Davis Restorations kept pace by outlasting Humana 21-20.

Paced by the four hits from Chick Cicatelli, Bob Buchanan, and Jim Moyer, Paul Davis held off a seventh inning threat to win. Adding three hits was Mike Jeffries, while Jim Wiegand, Mark Isom, Art Anton, Conrad Strassle, Jeff Bekasi, and Jeff Stein stroked two hits each. Humana had four hits by Dave Oatley and Don Melcher. Ed Chirumbolo, Dave Hinkley, Gary Lewis, Mark Rich, and Mark Collette had three hits apiece.

IHOP put their game against Synergy Wealth out of reach with a five run 6th inning and won 18-11.

IHOP got three hits from: Maury Fjestad, Gary Roth, Randy Godbold, Chuck Bowman, and Gary Coleman. Randy Bowen added a three run homer for the winners. Synergy’s Dale Neff led his team with four hits. Rick Fredieu and Ed Shirk added three hits in the loss.

The Firecrackers held a slim lead after six innings but failed to hold on as Babiarz Law scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 13-12.

Leading Babiarz with three hits each were: Ed Moriarity, Dennis Bauch, Jim Crabtree, Craig Dahlquist, and Carl McWilliams. Adding a pair of hits were: Dan Coopman, Ken Link, Bob Winder, and John Plunkard. The Firecrackers had three hits from Ralph Furbush, Pat Perkins, and John Wyks. Stroking two hits were: Manny Sanchez, Don Brozick, Paul Justice, Tim Carroll, Gary Arnold, and sub, Chris Iorio.

Fross & Fross tops Gators Brownwood 8-3.

Ron Rowe led his team with three hits. Adding a pair of hits each were: John Kushner, Alan Zahm, and Bill Dunkley. Gators got three hits by Rich Pitts as Fross pitcher Duane Miller held them to only nine hits. Jim Lambert had a triple in the first inning and scored on a hit by Mark Goodwin. Goodwin scored in the the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Dennis Nero and Gerry Street scored on a sac fly from Charlie Clare in the third.

Softball’s R Game held off a late charge by Arden Jewelers to win 8-7.

Softball’s R Game got four hits by Ray Bedford and three each from: Pat Rice and John Buchanan. Arden Jewelers got four hits from lead off man Bill Reed. Adding a pair of hits were Rod Severson and Dan MacPherson. Arden was down by 5 runs in the bottom of the seventh and scored a run on an error and a pair of hits. Following a pair of outs the next three batters had hits to score three more runs. Following an intentional walk to Mark Hildebrand the next batter hit into a fielder’s choice to end the game.
