Bless Fruitland Park is an ongoing effort of individuals, churches, businesses and local civic and social groups in the Fruitland Park area that are committed to working together to make a difference and create an atmosphere of partnership and generosity within the community.
Because of a school’s influence within the local community, a majority of the Bless Fruitland Park Team’s focus has been aimed at the support and encouragement of Fruitland Park Elementary School, staff and students.
Project Generosity is the collective, grass roots effort of the community coming together in the summer months to raise funds that will be used by school leadership to address immediate needs at the beginning of the school year not covered by school budgets.
“In communities like ours, the local school is the center of activity and we believe that so goes the school, so goes the community,” said the Rev. Sidney Brock, one of the founders of Bless Fruitland Park. “With those thoughts in mind, we have asked the question, how does a community partner together and network valuable resources to support its local school?”
During the week of Aug. 13 to 20, local residents, churches, civic organizations and business leaders are asked to be a part of Project Generosity. Individuals can contribute financially, organize local fundraisers, and help spread the word through social media. Churches can share the need with their congregations and plan to take up an offering. Businesses can give a one time financial gift or pick a day and give a percentage of earnings to the efforts of Project Generosity. Everyone can help spread the word and encourage others to join in the giving.
