The Bigger Red Button

To the Editor:

I keep hearing about Trump’s mental health issues, and that he is a danger to the world. Recently the Democrats  point at his tweet about his bigger red button as proof.  It reminds me of the movie I just saw, “Darkest Hour.”  The movie showcased the difference between Neville Chamberlain’s wish to appease Hitler, and Churchill basically telling Hitler, “Up your bum.” The Parliament was ready to vote Churchill out in support of appeasement when the king went up to talk to Churchill.  He told him that the British people were afraid of him due to his erratic behavior, and because nobody could ever predict what was going to come out of his mouth.  But he added, that the fact is Hitler was also afraid of him and that was probably a good thing so the king was going to support Churchill. We all know the end result of that. And the world is a much better place because of it. I thought about Obama vs. Trump.
Obama trying to explain that he didn’t really mean he would do anything if Syria crossed that red line, which left Syrian people being so terrorized that they flooded Europe as refugees. Trump says a crazy thing about having a bigger red button and now the president of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, credits Trump with talks with North Korea.  I think sometimes God gives us the people that seem a bit crazy because that’s the only thing certain tyrants understand. We tried it the appeaser’s way and we’ve now got a much more dangerous North Korea and Iran.  Maybe we should thank God right now that we don’t have an appeaser as president.  As Nikki Haley said, maybe every time North Korea threatens someone with their weapons we need to remind them that they are the only one that will be destroyed.
