Bids for Morse Boulevard Bridge project should go out in February or March

The Project Wide Advisory Committee learned Monday morning that bids should be going out in February or March for the project aimed at shoring up the embankment at the Morse Boulevard Bridge.

The estimated $1.47 million project recently won a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers.

For the time being, water is being pumped out of Lake Sumter in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The water is being pumped into retention basins in Community Development District 5. Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management told PWAC members it will take 90 days to pump out the excess water.

“There’s a lot of water out there,” he said.
