To the Editor:
Seeing the recent photo: “Entrance to Spanish Springs Town Square taken from Paradise Park in The Villages – Photo courtesy of Ron Clark” makes me have to ask a question.
With the recent addition of sidewalks and crosswalk signals at the intersection of Main Street and U.S. Hwy. 27/441, why wasn’t a short connection built to the Paradise multi-modal path so we can more easily cross U.S. Hwy. 27/441 instead of using the golf cart bridge, which is a dangerous and harrowing experience for pedestrians. With these new pedestrian-friendly crossings on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, is it finally time to ban pedestrians from the bridge? Although I think the term “accident ready to happen” is greatly overused . . . I think it can absolutely be used regarding the golf cart bridge.
