Armed bandit still on the loose after hitting Summerfield mini-mart

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a Summerfield mini-mart early Thursday afternoon after an armed bandit who is still on the loose made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

When deputies arrived at the Quick King, located at SE County Road 484, they quickly secured the scene and removed employees and customers from the store. They then spoke with a clerk who told them that a man with a beard who was wearing a hat, sunglasses and a white shirt came into the store, pointed at pistol at him and demanded money, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the clerk said he gave the man an undetermined amount of cash.

One person who reported having anxiety after the robbery was treated at the scene by paramedics from Marion County Fire Rescue.

Several sheriff’s deputies, including a K-9 unit, tried to track the bandit but didn’t have any luck. The scene was processed for evidence and the case was then turned over to detectives, the report says.
