Apparently intoxicated man Baker Acted after discharging firearm

An apparently intoxicated man was Baker Acted after reportedly discharging a firearm Tuesday night at a mobile home park in Ocklawaha.

Two women reported that they heard shots fired at the Sterlingwood Mobile Home Park at Lake Weir, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The man told deputies he had been drinking and taking blood thinners. He claimed he did not own a firearm.

The man was transported to Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

A Baker Act is a means of providing individuals with emergency services and temporary detention for mental health evaluation and treatment when required, either on a voluntary or an involuntary basis.
