Construction has begun on the Lofts of Brownwood, which promises “apartment style living in The Villages.”
The Lofts of Brownwood will include 265 age-restricted apartment-style units. The property will include a resort-style pool, clubhouse and fitness center.
The project has forced the closure of Brownwood Boulevard between Shady Nook Run and County Road 44A.
The Villages estimates that the Lofts of Brownwood could be home to nearly 500 people.
Earlier this year, the Wildwood Commission approved land-use changes that paved the way for the Lofts of Brownwood.
The Villages isn’t saying much about the Lofts of Brownwood on its website, other than it is “Convenient to Brownwood Paddock Square.”
Some Villagers have complained about lack of activity and retail options at Brownwood.
The 265 apartment-style units would certainly bring more traffic, diners and shoppers to the Brownwood town square.
