Anthony ‘Tony’ R. Roberto Sr.

Anthony “Tony” R. Roberto, Sr, age 76, of Summerfield, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2017. He was born in Providence, R.I., on January 3, 1941.

Tony worked for Jay Packaging in Rhode Island where he was Manufacturing Manager and Director of Customer Service. In 1997, Tony and Carolyn moved to Florida from Coventry, R.I. After moving to Florida, his devotion for service to others intensified during his retirement. Tony became a very active volunteer in many ministries of St Theresa Catholic Church. Tony’s dedication to others was evident in his work with The Knights of Columbus leading the “Coats for Kids” drive which donated coats to needy local children. He was especially proud of his induction as a Fourth Degree Knight in 2015.

Tony’s real passion in life remained his family. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he and the love of his life, Carolyn, enjoyed travel, golf and time spent with family and friends.

Tony is survived by his wife Carolyn J. Roberto (Burkhart); 6 children Anthony R. Roberto, Jr (Rosemary), David J. Roberto (Rhonda), Kristen M. Marshall (Roger), Bethany T. Stravato (Jim), Todd R. Matheny (Lori) and Tracey A. Weston (Todd); 9 grandchildren Katelyn Marshall-Hannon, Andrew Roberto (Aziza), Averill Roberto, Amber Marshall, Allison Roberto, A.J. Stravato, Christina Noonan, Arianna Stravato and Julianna Weston; and 5 Great Grandchildren Ellason, Irelynn, Jamisyn, Ava and Cyrus. He is also survived by his brother Ronald Roberto, Sr (Linda). He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Roberto (surviving wife Gloria).

A visitation for family and friends will take place at St Theresa Catholic Church, 11528 US-301, Belleview, FL 34420 on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A mass will be celebrated at the church, immediately following, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date in Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 11528 SE HWY 301, Belleview, Florida 34420 or National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
