Angler’s Club gets warning after violations noted during health inspection

The Developer’s private restaurant received a warning last week after violations were noted during a health inspection.

The Anglers’ Club, nestled atop redsauce at Lake Sumter Landing, was a favorite place for Gary Morse to dine with other top Villages executives. In recent years, it has been privatized. The exclusivity has been loosened and now prices appear on the menu.

On Friday, April 13 an inspector showed up and found six high-priority violations, four intermediate violations and one basic violation, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

An employee handled soiled dishes and utensils and then handled clean dishes without washing hands and employees were washing their hands in cold water because the hot water took too long to get hot.

In another case, a server handled soiled dishes or utensils and then picked up plated food, served food, or prepared a beverage without washing hands.

Food was not being stored at the proper temperature. Toxic chemicals were also being stored near food.

Also, food that was being stored was not properly date marked.

A follow up inspection was required.

Angler’s Club employees posted this photo of themselves drinking in the kitchen at the private club.
