American Legion Post 347 won approval Monday night for a freestanding LED sign at the intersection at County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road.

It was the second attempt at passage of the plan for the sign before the Lady Lake Commission.

The earlier version was turned down because commissioners feared it could be distracting and potentially be a traffic hazard at an already-busy intersection.

So Post Commander Tim Tierney refined the plan for the sign and brought it back Monday night.

The sign text would be amber in color with a black background and display text only. It will be set further back than originally planned.

The commission approved the plan 4-1, with Commissioner Jim Richards dissenting.
