Allan James MacEachern of Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife by his side on Saturday, April 21, at the age of 82.
Allan resided in North Kingstown, RI before relocating to the Plantation at Leesburg 14 years ago. He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 33 years; was a Staff Sergeant serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and received an Associates Degree from Johnson & Wales College. For several years Allan volunteered at St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen in Providence, RI and at the North Kingstown Library in Wickford, RI and later, at the Sheriff’s Ranch Thrift Shop in Leesburg. He was a volunteer member of the Plantation Memorial Park for several years and a member of the American Legion Post 347, The Villages, FL.
Allan was always active: he participated in several century bicycle runs throughout the State of Rhode Island and enjoyed in line roller skating. Later, he played pickle ball and tennis.
Allan is survived by his wife of 17 ½ years, Christine (Cassidy) and her two sons, Eric Anagnostis and Adam Anagnostis, both of Providence, RI; his sister, Mary Blue Hewitt of Wickford, RI; his brother Robert MacEachern (Nancy) of Asheboro, NC; three nieces, Katherine Kramer-Briggs (Bruce) of Portsmouth NH; Penny Dumas (David) of Sturbridge, MA; Kris Soderberg (Dean) of Wakefield, RI; two nephews, Wayne MacEachern of Strathmore, CA and Eugene MacEachern of St. Petersburg, FL; two great nieces, Andrea Mensen (Scott) of Worcester, MA, Stephanie Dumas of New Haven, CT and two great nephews, David Dumas of NY, NY and Alek Soderberg of Wakefield, RI. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Johnson of Ocala, FL.
A memorial service will be held in Rhode Island at a later date.
