The new ALDI grocery store in Wildwood is scheduled to open May 10.
Located at Trailwinds Village, the new location is part of a $3.4 billion investment the company is making as it strives to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022.
Currently, ALDI owns more than 1,600 stores in 35 states, including a Lady Lake location that is scheduled to close Monday for a four-week remodeling project. During that time, employees from the Lady Lake store will concentrate their efforts on the new ALDI grocery in Wildwood.
ALDI also plans to hold a hiring event May 17 for positions at both stores. Associates can expect to earn $12.35 an hour, plus a pay increase after six months of employment. Manager trainees are eligible to earn $49,920 per year, while store managers could earn $70,000 to $80,000 per year. Applicants are encouraged to apply in person between 7 and 10 a.m. May 17 at the new store at Trailwinds Plaza.
Founded by the Albrecht family, the first ALDI store opened in 1961 in Germany. Headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, ALDI employs more than 25,000 people and has been steadily growing since opening its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976.
