A man was arrested with drugs Wednesday night at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.
A store employee contacted law enforcement after spotting 35-year-old Dwight Southerland of Summerfield at about 11 p.m., as the employee was aware that Southerland had previously been trespassed from that Wal-Mart store, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy arrived at the store and found Southerland, who has a long history of local arrests, in aisle 13. He was found to be in possession of a pack of cigarettes that contained a plastic bag with methamphetamine and a film strip of prescription-only Buprenorphine and Naloxone.
He was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and trespassing. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,000 bond.
