Ambulance struck after responding to crash in roundabout in The Villages

An ambulance was struck Wednesday afternoon after responding to a crash in a roundabout in The Villages.

A car collided with a pickup at 1:18 p.m. in the roundabout at Buena Vista Boulevard and El Camino Real, between Savannah Center and the entrance to Glenview Country Club. Two women who had been traveling in the car were transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital. The driver of the car was ticketed for making an improper lane change, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A Sumter County EMS ambulance which responded to the crash was parked in a turn lane when the driver of another car was making a turn into the Savannah Center and clipped the front passenger side of the ambulance. That driver also was ticketed.
