The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is reminding golf cart operators of the 10 mile per hour speed limit on the Lake Sumter Bridge.

A sign has been set up at the entrance to the bridge, reminding golf cart drivers to slow down.

Deputies wrote 52 golf cart citations from Oct. 2, 2013-Jan. 5, 2014 with the sheriff’s office cracking down on golf cart drivers who violate traffic laws.

Thirty-two citations were issued to golf cart operators who ran stop signs.

Other offenses included careless driving, no motor vehicle registration, and improper operation of a golf cart.
