Two Wildwood teens killed in crash on State Road 44

Two Wildwood teens were killed in a crash Friday afternoon on State Road 44 in Sumter County.

Jarad Cleve Corbin Jr., 18, had been at the wheel of a 2009 Ford four-door at 12:20 p.m. eastbound on State Road 44 west of County Road 44A when he lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The car collided with a driveway culvert and went airborne. It struck a power line before crashing into two trees.

Law enforcement was at the scene of the crash on State Road 44.

Corbin and a passenger, 15-year-old Julian Tyrel Patterson, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The report said it is not known if the teens were wearing their seatbelts. The report also noted that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
