Motorcyclist killed, passenger seriously injured in crash on U.S. 441

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger seriously injured in a crash Sunday on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Alachua County.

Jeffrey Martin Delong, 28, of Clermont, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred at 12:54 p.m. Sunday at U.S. Hwy. 441 and County Road 234, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A passenger, 25-year-old Alaina Danielle Johnson, 25, of Fort McCoy, was seriously injured.

They had been riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle that collided with a 1998 Lincoln Continental driven by 50-year-old Freddie Lee Slater of Ocala.

Delong had pulled across the southbound lanes of U.S. Hwy. 441 and collided with the left side of Slater’s vehicle.

The report noted that Johnson had been wearing a helmet. Delong was not wearing a helmet.
