Reverend Donn H. Poole

Reverend Donn H. Poole

Rev. Donn H. Poole, 73, of The Villages, FL, was born in Houston, TX on February 6, 1946. He was the son of the late Thomas and Rosa (Hernandez) Poole.

Donn was a graduate of East Texas Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Donn left his earthly home after a long battle with brain cancer, but entered his heavenly home peacefully on April 29, 2018. To know Donn was to love him and those who have had the honor to know him and his commitment to his Lord and Savior know that he was greeted in heaven with the words, “Well done, My good and faithful servant.”

Donn was the founding and current pastor of Brownwood Baptist Church in The Villages. He served several churches in the Southwest and Southeast as Minister of Youth, College & Singles. His passion of loving and encouraging others was contagious. He demonstrated this is various ways throughout his life, but he had a special place in his heart for children in this community.

In the first year of Brownwood Baptist Church, Donn began a ministry to provide a new backpack and school supplies to approximately 1,000 children thus living out the great commission in Matthew 28:19 -20.

He authored Proverbial Wisdom: For a fully-functioning life in which he shows each of us how to apply God’s truth, to their goals, their commitment, and their relationships, to become all that God desires them to be. Donn has impacted the life of everyone who met him. He would also give a smile, a hug and tell you how much he loved you, more importantly, how much God loved you.

He will be greatly missed but as he and his wife began this cancer journey, Donn asked her to do two things and these were that they enjoy every moment that God granted them, and that God receive all the glory as they walked this journey. As his wife, I can truly tell you that Donn’s request has been fulfilled.

Donn is survived by his wife of 22 years, Katherine M. Poole; daughter; Angela Ellingsen of NJ; son; Jason Poole of Kansas City; niece, Katelyn Martin and mother-in-law, Nellie Martin.

The family will receive family and friends at a visitation to be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Donn’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the New Covenant United Methodist Church, The Villages at 1 p.m.  Pall bearers will be Paul Arneson, Gary Bevis, Gary Search, Jim Grantham, Tad Denson and Ralph Dorsten.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brownwood Baptist Church for Backpack 4 Kids.  Checks can be mailed to 3470 Woodridge Drive, The Villages, FL  32162.
