Student strikes Lake Weir High School dean trying to break up girl fight in lunchroom

A student struck a Lake Weir High School dean who was trying to break up a girl fight in the lunchroom.

The altercation occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Monday after a student threw coffee on a fellow student, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. When the dean attempted to restrain one of the female students involved in the fight, she struck him several times on the arm, in an attempt to break free and resume her attack on the student who threw coffee at her.

The student’s mother arrived at the school and said she did not wish to press charges against the student who had thrown coffee at her daughter. She took her daughter home for the rest of the day.

The dean indicated he did not wish to press charges.
