A woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon at Brownwood Care Center after allegedly striking a woman and smashing her cell phone.

Wildwood police were called to the care center on Old Wire Road after  27-year-old Yvonne Lavette Wilkerson of Wildwood struck a woman twice on the side of the head, according to an arrest report. She also pulled an earring out of the woman’s ear. When the woman got out a cell phone and threatened to call 911, Wilkerson took the phone, threw it on the ground and smashed it, the report indicated. She was attempting to leave the grounds when police arrived.

She was arrested on charges of battery and obstructing justice. She was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Wilkerson had also threatened to return to Brownwood Care Center and harm the woman upon her release.
