Provider of urology services abruptly pulls out at The Villages Regional Hospital

The provider of urology services abruptly pulled out earlier this month at The Villages Regional Hospital.

The hospital had a relationship with Advanced Urology Institute led by Dr. Harvey Taub. But Taub notified Central Florida Health, the parent company of TVRH and Leesburg Regional Medical Center, that his organization would be pulling out of TVRH as of Nov. 1.

“It certainly came as a surprise to us,” said Central Florida Health CEO Don Henderson.

For the time being, urology coverage for TVRH patients is being coordinated through LRMC, which uses another urology team.

“It has been a smooth process,” Henderson said.

CFA immediately began recruiting other urologists and currently has an offer out to another potential provider.

Efforts to secure comment from Dr. Taub for this story were unsuccessful.
