80-year-old Leesburg man claims $5 million Scratch-Off Florida Lottery prize

Waldo Banks claimed his $5 million Florida Lottery prize.

The Florida Lottery has announced that Waldo Banks, 80, of Leesburg, has claimed a top prize in the $5 million Gold Rush Doubler Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $3.725 million.

Banks purchased his winning ticket at Publix, located at 10601 U.S. Hwy. 441 in Leesburg.

The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.
