A speeding South Carolina teen who was not wearing a seat belt was nabbed with a marijuana bong on State Road 44 at The Villages.
James Parker White, 19, of Lexington, S.C. was driving a green Honda Civic at 5 p.m. Monday when he was exceeding the speed limit and did not have his seat belt fastened, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A traffic stop was initiated at State Road 44 and Buena Vista Boulevard. A deputy who approached the vehicle noticed the “distinct odor of marijuana.”
A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana and a bong.
White was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
