Betty Babcock

Betty Babcock, 89 of Lady Lake, FL passed away March 21, 2021.

She was born July 20, 1931 in Blassburg, PA, the oldest of five children to Milton and Mary Duff Beard. She graduated from Cortland High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She moved to Florida in 1986 from North Syracuse, NY and became an active member of Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park. She was a member of the Busy Bees Quilting group at the church as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.

Survivors include her children: Nancy Carnahan of Bastrop, TX, Gail (Michael) O’Donnell of East Syracuse, NY, Connie Thompson of Lady Lake, FL and Alex (Maxine) Babcock of Bryan College Station, TX; 8 grandchildren: Christopher, Erin, Brenda, Karin, Jason, Shannon, Hugh and Leah; 11 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Bert Bell, Hilda Seager and Joyce Stottlar; and other loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Guy of 69 years in 2017, son Ricky in 2018, great grandson Jimmy Kounovsky and a brother Richard Duff.

Betty enjoyed embroidery, quilting, and collecting dolls and music boxes. A visitation will be held in the Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home Leesburg on Thursday March 25 from 10-11 AM with a Funeral Service to follow at 11 AM. Pastors Mal Patterson and Ralph Donohue will officiate. She will be interred at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL
