Ernest J. Moretti “Ernie” passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2021 in Newtown, PA., at the age of 82.
He was born in Trenton, NJ to the late Joseph Ferraro and Constance Nami. Ernie received his high school education from Trenton High School before enlisting in the United States Army. He was the loving father to Joseph Moretti (Donna), Joelle Corcoran (Nick), and Dana Greene (Scott); and loving Poppop to Scott Greene, Kim Corcoran, and Madison Greene. Ernie was also survived by his two sisters Marianne Moretti-Petrino and Geri Enright, and his niece, Karin Petrino, and nephews Joe and Jason Enright.
Ernie was a barber for 60 years and cut hair for both family and friends. He was a committed coach to his children’s sports teams- including swimming and softball. Outside of work and family, he volunteered as a poll worker for elections and was actively involved in local politics. In retirement, Ernie was an active resident of The Villages in Florida for 16 years. Here, he was a member of the Phillies Club, the Italian Club, and, most notably the American Legion. Ernie would often volunteer his time on the scholarship committee for the American Legion raising money for college scholarships. When he wasn’t volunteering, Ernie enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing softball and spending Sundays watching NASCAR with family and friends. He was also famous for his homemade pizzas which he would regularly make for his friends in The Villages.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernie’s name to In Touch Ministries at PO Box 7900 Atlanta, GA 30357. Due to current COVID-19 concerns, interment will be held with local immediate family only. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
