Wildwood police arrest couple on drug charges

Wildwood police arrested a couple on drug charges after a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 301 at County Road 462.

Jacob Carroll, 30, of Leesburg, was driving a gray Mitsubishi shortly after 4 p.m. when he was pulled over for an expired registration, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, Carroll admitted he had drugs and a hypodermic needle in his pocket. The drug tested positive for cocaine. He was arrested on a felony charge of drug possession and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug equipment.

A search of a purse which belonged to a passenger, 34-year-old Teresa Michelle Montgomery of Fruitland Park, turned up two marijuana pipes. She was was arrested on a charge of possession of drug equipment. She is also on probation through 2022 on a charge of possession of cocaine in Marion County. She was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Carroll was booked on $3,000 bond.
