A suspect who was caught on surveillance was jailed after a burglary at a local golf academy.
The owner of the Oxford Golf Academy, located behind Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages, late Wednesday night received a security alert that someone had tried to break into a shed on the property, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Tools had been stolen from the shed, which had been forced open.
The owner was able to provide to police with a description of the suspect and the clothes he was wearing.
An officer found 33-year-old Christopher James Bonnet of Summerfield at the Urban Hair Studio on County Road 107. He matched the description of the suspect. He denied stealing the tools, but led police to where they were located, in high grass about 100 yards east of the shed.
Bonnet was arrested on charges of burglary and theft. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $9,000 bond.
