A $5,000 reward is being offered for information in the murder this week of a senior at South Sumer High School.
David Lyons Jr., 19, was fatally shot Monday at the intersection of Missouri Avenue and North Warfield Avenue in Wildwood.
His father, David Lyons, was moved to tears Thursday afternoon when he visited a memorial to his son under an oak tree at the high school. There were flowers, photos and footballs placed under the tree. One photo was of the Raider football squad members who were seniors, including Lyons.
Many students signed the banner that has been hung on the tree. The banner includes Lyons’ senior picture. He would have been a member of the Class of 2020.
“This is so wonderful, what everybody has done,” his father said.
The Wildwood Police Department is looking for information from the public as the investigation continues into Lyons’ death.
If anyone has information regarding Lyons’ death, they are asked to contact Detective D. Clarkson at (352) 661-0888 or dclarkson@wildwood-fl.gov and reference case number WWPD20OFF000378. Those with information can also call Crime Line at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
