Robert Lyles

Robert Louis Lyles, 72, of Wildwood, passed away on December 12, 2019. Robert was born on November 15, 1947 in Ocala, Florida to Robert Louis and Helen Ida (Austin) Lyles Sr.

Robert proudly served his country by serving in the Army Air Corps during the Vietnam War flying helicopters during the war. He mainly flew the Boing CH-47 Chinook. After the war, Robert worked in management until he became disabled. Robert loved science and loved learning about space and air.

Robert loved his family, he had a very innocent ways of looking at the world, he was kind hearted and always loved having color in his life. Robert suffered from schizophrenia and light paranoia. He learned how to cope and survive with his life.

Robert is survived by his mother, daughter Sherry Lyles of Austin, Texas, daughter Christa and wife Wendy Frost Lyles of Fort Worth, Texas, brother Mitchell Lyles of Summerfield, sister Patricia Crawford and husband Miles of Wildwood, grandchildren Max and Abby Lyles.

A graveside with military honors is being planned for Florida National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen in Wildwood or the National Alliance of Mental Illness.
