A Villages couple’s son will escape prosecution in a fight with his girlfriend that started after drinking at Brownwood.
The couple of two years, 49-year-old Susan Kendra Walker and 34-year-old Michael Patrick Duffy, had been drinking July 18 at Brownwood Paddock Square when they got into a car to return to their home in the Southern Star Villas in the Village of St. James.
Walker admitted she threw a drink at Duffy, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The Tennessee native also struck Duffy in the upper lip, leaving him with a laceration. She claimed it was in self-defense.
She packed up her belongings, put them in the car and waited outside the villa, which is owned by Duffy’s parents, who live in the Village of Sabal Chase. After “an extended period” she re-entered the villa, prompting Duffy, who stands in excess of six feet tall and weighs 240 pounds, to grab Walker by the hair and drag her out of the house, the report said.
Earlier this month in Sumter County Court, the prosecutor’s office announced no information would be filed in Duffy’s case due to “victim/witness issues.”
Walker continues to face a charge of battery. Her attorney has subpoenaed Duffy to testify in the case.
