A seatbelt saved a golf cart driver from serious injury after the golf cart was hit by a car Tuesday evening at Colony Plaza.
The golf cart had been eastbound at 5:50 p.m. on Colony Boulevard when it was T-boned by a car which had been southbound on Sembler Way, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The car ran a stop sign and struck the golf cart, knocking it on its side.
Thanks to the seatbelt he was wearing, the golf cart driver was spared serious injury. He suffered some scratches and was treated at the scene by personnel from The Villages Public Safety Department.
The driver of the automobile was ticketed for running a stop sign.
