Umatilla High school student jailed in bizarre plot to have her parents killed

A Umatilla High School student is behind bars after being accused of stealing money from her parents and trying to hire two people to kill them.

Detectives from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office took 17-year-old Alyssa Hatcher into custody early Tuesday morning and charged her with two counts of criminal solicitation for murder. Investigators claim Hatcher stole her parents debit card and made two separate transactions withdrawing funds to pay the individuals to carry out the murder.

Hatcher was transported to the Lake County Jail, where she was processed and turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
