Unfortunate that 9/11 memorial services scheduled at same time

It is truly unfortunate that two 9/11 memorial services are scheduled at exactly the same time on this Wednesday, the 18th anniversary of the Twin Towers attack.  The one at Fire Station #44 with Congressman Webster is touted as a commemoration; an opportunity to come out and honor the heroes of 9/11. It is sponsored by the Veterans’ Memorial Committee.

The second service is sponsored by the 343 Club, a large group of retired New York City firefighters and police officers who gather annually to honor the TRUE heroes of 9/11 – the 343 firefighters and police officers who gave their lives trying to save others. All 343 names will be read, as they are every year.  This service, also at 10 a.m., is at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church.

My answer:  Let’s not just commemorate the event, but honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in an attempt to save others. I know where I’ll be: St. Mark’s at 10 a.m. saying thank you and paying tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
