Village of Caroline man booked at jail over the weekend

Thomas Brazie

A 72-year-old Village of Caroline man was booked over the weekend at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Thomas Charles Brazie, who lives at 289 Modoc Lane, was booked at 12:45 p.m. Saturday on two counts of failure to appear. He was released about two hours later after posting bond.

Brazie originally had been arrested March 5 after allegedly switching pricetags at the Goodwill Superstore in Oxford. Brazie had been spotted on surveillance switching the pricetags, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

Brazie was approached in the parking lot by the store’s loss prevention officer. Brazie left the premises, but then returned because his wife was still at the store. A police officer arrived on the scene and attempted to take Brazie into custody. He attempted to run and tried to pull away from the police officer. He was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and petit theft.
