88-year-old Villager in Porsche arrested on DUI charge

Allen Blankenship

An 88-year-old Villager in a Porsche was arrested on a drunk driving charge after he was caught driving without headlights.

Allen Blankenship, of the Village of Santo Domingo, was at the wheel of the green Porsche at 11:14 p.m. Sunday night when he was driving on U.S. 301 without headlights, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Several vehicles flashed their headlights at Blankenship in attempts to get him to turn on his headlights.

An officer pulled over Blankenship and suspected he had been drinking. He was unable to keep his balance during field sobriety exercises and “had to be stopped from falling backwards,” the report said. He provided breath samples that registered .089 and .090 blood alcohol content.

He was arrested on charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
