A Villager’s oft-arrested son has been jailed without bond after he was caught driving a golf cart in the Oak Meadows section of The Villages.
Keith Barnum, 40, who lives with his mother at 730 Roseapple Ave. on the Historic Side of The Villages, is being held at the Lake County Jail after his earlier bonds were revoked.
He had been spotted June 19 driving a golf cart near Petco at Rolling Acres Plaza. He ducked into Oak Meadows, a section of homes behind the shopping center, and pulled into the driveway of a home on Murray Court.
Barnum was taken into custody and the golf cart was towed from the scene.
Barnum had been arrested June 5 after causing a disturbance in the wee hours of the morning at the outdoor patio area at Gator’s Dockside at Spanish Springs Town Square. He was jailed on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing. He was released after securing a $1,500 bail bond from Belton Bail Bond.
Two days later, the New Jersey native was arrested after an early morning encounter with a 19-year-old clerk on duty at the Circle K on the Historic Side of The Villages. She ordered Barnum to leave the gas station, which has been the scene of several of Barnum’s previous arrests.
“I know I am in trouble, let me call my mom,” Barnum told Lady Lake police officers when they showed up on the scene.
He was arrested on two counts of trespassing and taken back to the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting a $2,000 bond from Pernell Mitchell Bail Bonds.
Barnum had been released May 10 from the Lake County Jail, where he had been lodged since Nov. 10 following his arrest on a charge of theft. Barnum had attempted to steal an $87 bottle of Boss cologne.
Barnum was also arrested in 2018 after stealing a golf cart.
