Lady Lake approves next step toward development of retail center

The Lady Lake Commission has approved the next step toward the development of a major new retail center on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

Commissioners on Monday approved a water, sewer and reuse agreement with the Benchmark Group of New York, which is developing a 72,420-square-foot retail building with 428 parking spaces buffered by U.S. Hwy. 27/441, Fennell Boulevard and County Road 25. The development is to be known as Lady Lake Commons Shopping Center.

Benchmark is reserving 13,250 gallons per day or 53 Equivalent Residential Units (ERUs.) Benchmark will pay $247,563 for the allocation.

Benchmark already has announced that a contract has been executed with Earth Fare, a health and wellness supermarket specializing in natural and organic foods. The Earth Fare supermarket will occupy 24,010 square feet of the shopping center. A Goodwill nonprofit retail thrift store chain focused on vocational rehabilitation of disabled individuals will occupy 24,920 square feet of the shopping center. The shopping center has space for two more major tenants. They have not yet been announced.

Also on the property will be a Miller’s Ale House restaurant. A Beall’s is pending next to the restaurant, according to information from Benchmark.
