President Trump’s proposal could balance America’s budget in 15 years

Congressman Daniel Webster

Monday, the President released his budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2020. President Trump’s recommendations include several good policy proposals and $2.7 trillion in spending cuts. According to his budget director, the president’s proposal would balance the federal budget in 15 years.

The U.S. Constitution grants Congress the authority and power to decide spending and allocate funding. I look forward to reviewing these policy proposals as House Committees hold hearings featuring agency leaders and Office of Management and Budget officials to delve into the details. The U.S. Constitution grants Congress the authority and power to decide spending and allocate funding.

I remain concerned about our nation’s debt and spending trajectory and that concern will be at the front of my mind in evaluating any potential budget/spending plans. I pledge to continue to work hard on behalf of Florida’s hardworking taxpayers and families to advance common-sense reforms and principled policy and budgets that get our fiscal house in order.
