Villagers leave Mardi Gras because tables were not provided

To the Editor:

Our traditional get-together with 25-30 friends to celebrate Mardi Gras was upset Tuesday as there were no tables or chairs set up as have been in prior years. Typically, we bring some snack foods sit and enjoy each other and the entertainment provided.
We did not see, hear or read anything about tables and chairs not being provided so we wonder what happened and would like an explanation. We left Spanish Springs and had dinner outside the square as so many others did who enjoy the day as we do by sharing and sitting with friends and making new friends and acquaintances.
We hope the tables and chairs return next year and if not at least setting expectations why they are not provided by an announcement and reason.
