Two cars stolen and 23 vehicles burglarized at PepperTree Apartments in Wildwood

The Wildwood Police Department has tracked down three juveniles and one adult believed to be responsible for the theft of two cars and 23 vehicle burglaries at the PepperTree Apartments.

Officers responded at about 3 a.m. Wednesday to the complex, where they found windows had been smashed out in the vehicles. Police worked with the apartment complex’s management to contact the owners of the cars that were burglarized. A forensic team was called in to collect evidence.

Officers learned that the vehicles had been driven to the Florida Turnpike and were bound for Orlando. The suspects, while en route to Orlando, committed an armed robbery and the four were captured after a car chase by another law enforcement agency.

Detectives from the Wildwood Police Department traveled to Orlando and met with detectives, who had recovered a firearm stolen from a vehicle at PepperTree Apartments. The four suspects used that gun to commit the armed robbery, according to the Wildwood Police Department.

The lone adult has been identified as 18-year-old Terrell Lamar Douglas.

“This is the perfect example of team work at its best,” said interim Wildwood Police Chief Paul Sireci.
